Too $hort, born Todd Anthony Shaw, is one of the most respected and influential hip hop artists with a career that has spanned almost thirty years. At the age of 14, he met his early rap partner Freddie B and by 1981 the two were selling cassettes on the streets of East Oakland. He released three independent albums “Don’t Stop Rappin”, “Raw” and “Uncut & X-Rated” before forming his own label “Dangerous Music.” In 1986, Too $hort released “Born to Mack” which went gold with virtually no radio or video exposure and subsequently produced sixteen more albums, ten of which have gone gold or platinum. He has collaborated with the biggest names in rap music including Jay-Z, E-40, The Notorious B.I.G. and Snoop Dogg to name just a few. His music can be heard in several feature films including “Boyz n the Hood”, “Menace II Society” and “Freddy Got Fingered” as well as in the television series “Entourage.” Besides appearing in numerous television programs and documentaries, he can also be seen in the adult film “Get It Where You Fit in 1.” His voicing of Bosco, a big, black, bad-ass Doberman in “Porndogs: The Adventures of Sadie” is simply classic! While Too $hort doesn’t have any dogs, he does love beeeaatches!
