The Voice Talent

The search for voice talent didn’t begin until all photography was completed, the script was revised and an early trailer to the film was created. We signed a notable casting director who understood the project’s humor and intent and who had access to anybody and everybody in the industry. One of the most important decisions that we had to make was whether we should cast mainstream actors and comedians or rather to attract notorious celebrities including adult film stars. Initially we decided to reach out to both groups with the understanding that notorious celebrities were more appropriate for the film but that the right mainstream actor could bring wide publicity to the project. But ultimately we decided to preserve the integrity of the project by seeking stars whose careers and public personas paralleled the roles they were to play in the film.
Obviously, the lead role was the most critical and Marilyn Chambers was at the top of our list. When developing the structure to the script, I borrowed the motif of incorporating a voice-over for the protagonist from one of Marilyn’s films “Insatiable.” Furthermore, Sadie, the lead canine in the film, was a yellow lab (blonde) and played the role of an innocent, a role often played by Marilyn. But more importantly, we anticipated stirring up a fair share of controversy with Porndogs, and Marilyn was no novice to controversy with her debut hardcore performance in “Behind the Green Door.” What we didn’t know when we approached Marilyn was that she loved animals and had two dogs of her own.
Attaching Ron Jeremy was a gimme. No adult film, spoof on adult films or film having anything to do with pornography would be complete without Ron. However, when we originally cast him we intended for him to use his natural voice to play the film’s producer. It was a surprise that he was able to impersonate a famous celebrity so well. But then again, Ron is a man of immeasurable talents!
Some of the roles were racially and ethnically stereotyped, so finding a Hip Hop artist to play the Big Black Bad-ass Doberman was not much of a stretch. We contacted Too $hort not only because of his fame and stature but because of the image that he projects. When we learned he had also performed in a hardcore porn film, we knew we had found our man.
Besides being an accomplished actor and standup comedian, Dustin Diamond achieved notoriety with the release of a home-made porn film… perfect, and we all know of Heidi Fleiss’ claim to fame. As it turned out, the casting choices we made couldn’t have been better as the performances truly speak for themselves.
